Why we collect and how it helps
Zakat is a mandatory act of worship in Islam — a portion of qualifying wealth given each year to those in genuine need. Better Hope Foundation collects and distributes Zakat with strict adherence to Islamic guidelines, ensuring it reaches only eligible recipients.
Every year, generous donors trust us to identify the poor, the sick, orphans, and families struggling to earn a livelihood — and to deliver support directly, with dignity and full accountability.
Eligibility Requirements (Nisab-based)
- Possesses wealth equal to or above the Nisab threshold for a full lunar year
- The wealth is in excess of basic needs (food, shelter, essential expenses)
- The wealth is free from immediate debt obligations
- Owns gold, silver, cash, savings, or business assets that qualify

No. Zakat funds are reserved strictly for direct support to eligible individuals — medical aid, food, orphan sponsorship, and livelihood support. Infrastructure and development work is funded through Sadaqah and general donations instead.
